Top 3 Tips for Streaming

Before you start streaming, there are a few things to think about. Learn which microphone to choose for different spaces in this quick tutorial video.

Top 3 Tips for Streaming

1. Connection

Think about how you are going to connect your microphone to your rig? Are you going to be using an XLR connection or USB? Whether it is XLR or USB connection, they each have their own benefits. For example, an XLR connection will require an interface where you can configure the audio directly on the interface. USB microphones often come with a built-in software package where you can use to configure audio.

To get the best of both worlds, you can consider the Shure MV7 Podcast microphone that comes with both USB and XLR connections. It now comes with various bundle options from boom arm to mic stand!

2. Type of Microphones: Condenser or Dynamic Mic

Both condenser and dynamic microphones are great mic. It really depends on where you are going to be doing your stream!

Condenser microphones are commonly found in recording studios because they are designed to pick up more details and sound. They require phantom power which sends an electric charge into the mic to activate all of the circuitry inside and they generally come across as more sensitive. You will find a dynamic microphone in live performances. They do not require phantom power and are less sensitive.

Many streamers use a dynamic microphone such as the Shure MV7 Podcast microphone in their office or bedroom where they don't have a luxury of acoustically treated walls. MV7 mic is made for perfect recording in imperfect rooms.
